A Sincere Festivity at Khao Kheow Open Zoo
Thousands of visitors gathered at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi, Thailand, on July 10 to celebrate Moo Deng’s first birthday, launching a four-day festival filled with fanfare, festivities, and heartfelt moments.

International Fans Fly In for the Event
Visitors from around the globe, including Molly Swindall from New York and others from Malaysia, flew in just to wish the pygmy hippo well. By afternoon, attendance reached 12,000, underlining Moo Deng’s massive appeal.

Festivities Blend Fun with Conservation

Moo Deng and her mother, Jona, were treated to a 20-kilogram tropical fruit “cake” at the zoo. A parade, a picture show, and auctions of her memorabilia were among the events; the money raised went to conservation programmes.

Conservation Discussions Are Started by a Viral Star
Beyond entertainment, Moo Deng’s fame has spotlighted endangered pygmy hippo conservation—raising awareness and boosting zoo revenue to enhance animal welfare and breeding programs.
