Some K-Dramas receive great ratings only to disappoint viewers with poor storytelling, yet many K-Dramas enthral viewers with compelling narratives and deep emotional resonance. The Penthouse, another entry, began with a lot of high-stakes drama but quickly descended into anarchy, making each season harder to believe. Similar to this, Snowdrop struggled with faulty historical framing and inconsistent character development while having a good idea and high level of anticipation.
The mystery and excitement of Lee Jong-suk’s Big Mouth also pulled in viewers, but it lost its edge halfway through, making for a hurried and disappointing. These dramas remind us that ratings don’t always equal quality — and that viewers are craving substance over hype.
