On Thursday, the unexplained deaths were discovered in a startling instance of revenge. India’s Madhya Pradesh – June 30, 2025. Three people have been taken into custody in relation to the poisoning deaths of five tigers in Madhya Pradesh, in a troubling instance of wildlife revenge. In retaliation for one of their cows being murdered by a tiger, the accused allegedly poisoned a carcas with poison.

Officials from the forest department verified that the five tigers’ unexplained deaths were discovered on Thursday when patrol teams discovered their bodies strewn about inside a protected reserve’s buffer zone. Toxicology tests and preliminary necropsy findings subsequently verified poisoning as the cause of death.

“The arrested men confessed to intentionally poisoning the carcas of their cow, which had been killed by a tiger days earlier,” according to a top forester. “They hoped the tiger responsible would return to feed on it and die, but unfortunately, multiple tigers consumed the poisoned meat.”

Given that tigers are an endangered species and are protected by the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, officials characterised the incident as a significant setback to conservation efforts. Under this law, the arrested individuals are now facing serious legal charges that carry severe penalties, including lengthy jail sentences.

In order to stop human-animal interactions from getting worse and leading to such fatal consequences, environmentalists and wildlife advocates nationwide have voiced their concern over the killings and called for increased patrols and community engagement in buffer zones.

In addition, authorities are stepping up surveillance in high-risk locations close to the reserve and looking into if additional individuals were engaged in the crime.
