Flight Etiquette 101: Airline Crew Shares Do’s & Don’ts for Travelers

Airline cabin crew are bringing to light key in-flight etiquette guidelines that can make flying easier for all. From not being too loud to not invading personal space, flight attendants highlight small but significant actions that can enhance the flying experience for passengers and crew alike.

Among the most common complaints is snapping fingers to attract a flight attendant’s attention, which is deemed unnecessary and rude. Passengers should instead use the call button politely when they need help. Reclining seats too far back without looking behind can also cause discomfort and even spilled drinks.

Another frequent complaint is bare feet on seats or in the aisle—something that most passengers consider unsanitary. Wearing socks and using shoes when moving about the cabin is a thoughtful and easy habit to adopt. Furthermore, stowing carry-on bags properly in overhead bins facilitates smoother boarding and prevents delays for no reason.

Flight attendants also remind passengers to be considerate of noise levels, steer clear of pungent foods, and tidy up after themselves. By observing these easy etiquette tips, passengers can help make the flight a more enjoyable experience for all on board.
