Flu Cases Rise Sharply in Dubai; Travel and Family Are to Blame

Doctors in Dubai are expressing concern over a substantial increase in influenza infections, which they attribute primarily to increasing rates of transmission within families and increased travel. With the summer break in full swing and families returning from overseas trips, clinics and hospitals are reporting a significant uptick in patients presenting with severe flu symptoms.

Medical experts note that children and returning travelers are among the most affected, with many cases escalating beyond mild flu into complications such as high fever, respiratory distress, and prolonged fatigue. “We’re seeing a more aggressive strain this season,” said one Dubai-based pediatrician. “It’s hitting children especially hard, and spreading fast within homes.”

Residents are being advised by medical specialists to take precautions, such as getting vaccinated, maintaining proper hygiene, and avoiding close contact with sick people. Numerous clinics have noted a rise in the demand for early consultations and flu injections, particularly from parents worried about family members who may be at risk.

The Dubai Health Authority has encouraged anybody experiencing symptoms to stay at home and stay away from public areas while authorities continue to keep an eye on the issue. The current spike serves as a warning that, even outside of the typical flu season, international travel and indoor interactions can rekindle viral transmission.
