On behalf of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, officially opened the second session of the Federal National Council’s (FNC) 18th legislative chapter.

The event was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court.

The opening ceremony gathered Crown Princes, Deputy Rulers, prominent dignitaries, civic and military leaders, and members of the diplomatic corps in the UAE.

The event began with the reading of Federal Decree No. 163 of 2024, issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, summoning the FNC to convene for its second session on November 25, 2024.

FNC Speaker Saqr Ghobash delivered a speech expressing gratitude to the UAE leadership for their consistent support of the council. He emphasized how this backing has empowered the FNC members to effectively carry out their duties and helped the UAE secure the Presidency of the Arab Parliament.

Ghobash highlighted the leadership’s focus on citizen empowerment, reflected in initiatives like UAE Education Day, celebrated annually on February 28 to encourage excellence in future-focused fields.

He reaffirmed the FNC’s commitment to fulfilling its constitutional role in partnership with the UAE government, prioritizing the nation’s progress and the well-being of its citizens. Ghobash underscored the shared dedication of all UAE institutions to achieving the country’s goals and ensuring its people’s welfare.
