France Supports Post-War Gaza Reconstruction Plan, Demands Excluding Hamas Entirely

France has come out strongly in support of a post-war reconstruction plan for Gaza that would exclude Hamas entirely from the government. French officials made it clear that any long-term stability in the region would have to include an administration headed by the Palestinian Authority (PA) and not by militant groups.

Welcoming an Arab-initiated initiative, France restated its determination in favor of a peaceful resolution and rebuilding with a focus on civilian welfare. The plan outlines the restoration of order and infrastructure improvements under a reorganized Palestinian authority.

The ban on Hamas is consistent with wider international appeals for a governance system that encourages stability and stops further violence. French envoys have again expressed their view that the Palestinian Authority is the rightful government with the ability to guide Gaza’s rebuilding.

As talks go on between local and international stakeholders, France holds its ground that Hamas should play no part in Gaza’s future. The plan is a testament to continued diplomatic efforts towards securing a lasting peace in the conflict-ridden area.
