In a cultural first, the ‘From Sharjah to Rome via the Spice Route’ exhibition was opened at the legendary Colosseum in Rome, Italy. The historic exhibition was inaugurated by Bodour Al Qasimi and was the first Arab exhibition to take place at this historical venue. It highlights the long history and the impact of the ancient Spice Route that was the bridge connecting East and West through trade, culture, and knowledge.

This exhibition brings to life the incredible journey of goods, ideas, and cultures that flowed between Sharjah and Rome, highlighting profound historical connections between the Arab world and Europe. Visitors are taken on a fascinating journey through artifacts, ancient maps, and multimedia presentations that reveal how the Spice Route facilitated global exchange and shaped civilizations.

Al Qasimi is proud of this historic moment and emphasizes how the exhibition reflects the deep-rooted heritage of Sharjah and the emirate’s pivotal role in preserving and promoting cultural exchanges. This collaboration between the UAE and Italy through this exhibition is a testament to the shared values of history, knowledge, and mutual respect.

And the exhibition is already open, while locals and visitors in Rome could now enjoy Arab heritage, also encouraging further intercultural exchanges between the Middle East and Europe.
