Hamas has signaled readiness to release Israeli hostages as a trade for a guaranteed conclusion of the Gaza war, as per recent updates. The group is already involved in negotiations in Cairo with Egyptian and Qatari mediators to secure a ceasefire deal with Israel.

Key Points of the Negotiations:
1. Hostage Release: Hamas has also required a permanent ceasefire and complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza in exchange for releasing remaining hostages.
2. Mediation Attempts: Egypt and Qatar are spearheading diplomacy efforts to close gaps between Israel and Hamas.
3. Israeli Position: Israel has so far demanded to continue military operations until Hamas is eliminated, though pressure from the families of hostages and international allies can shape its stance.
4. Possible Deal Structure: A staged agreement is conceivable, with an initial ceasefire, the release of some hostages, and more talks for a more lasting agreement.

Obstacles:
Trust Problems: Each side has blamed the other for bad faith at previous talks.
Divisions within: Hardline groups within Hamas and the Israeli government could oppose concessions.
Humanitarian Crisis: Since Gaza is running critically short, there is an urgent need for a deal to grant additional aid.

International Pressure:
The U.S., EU, and regional players are exerting pressure for a deal to avoid further deterioration, particularly after recent skirmishes near Rafah.
