UAE Met Office Advises Caution with Yellow and Amber Alerts, Cooler Temperatures, and Strong Winds Forecast. Today, heavy rains and stormy weather affected various regions of the UAE. The residents of Al Dhafra, Ras Al Khaimah, and Ajman experienced significant downpours.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued yellow and amber alerts for the Eastern, Southern, and Northern regions. They have urged the residents to exercise caution on the roads. They have also requested the residents to clear areas prone to flooding.
The NCM reported that the wet weather impacted several locations. These locations include Wadi Shaam, Khatt in Ras Al Khaimah, Habhab, Al Tuwiyain in Fujairah, and areas west of Liwa in Al Dhafra. Al Tuwiyain and Arada in Fujairah were particularly affected by heavy rainfall. In Ajman, the Muzairah area recorded intense rainfall around 6:39 p.m.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office issued an official warning to the public. They advised the residents in the impacted areas to follow modified speed limits. They also requested them to avoid valleys and low-lying regions susceptible to flooding.
The public is requested to keep emergency supplies like first aid kits and alternative light sources on hand. “We urge the public to exercise extreme caution. As road conditions may become hazardous due to rain and reduced visibility,” the alert emphasized.
Temperature Drops and Gusty Winds Add to Changing Conditions
In addition to the rainfall, temperatures have also dropped, particularly in areas with cloud cover. The highest temperature of the day reached 39°C in Sweihan, Al Ain. The lowest temperature was recorded at 17.8°C in the Jais Mountains, Ras Al Khaimah.
This cooling trend is expected to persist, with fair to partly cloudy conditions. This weather is anticipated until Wednesday, October 30, along with high humidity levels at night. Furthermore, the UAE is expected to experience moderate to strong winds in the coming days. This may lead to dusty conditions.
