Dubai commuters and tourists are now able to hire and pay for e-scooters using their Nol card, through an efficient NFC-based system. The union makes it convenient to access clean transportation all over the city, which improves commuting for tourists and locals.
To rent an e-scooter, the user has to link his Nol card using NFC technology on his smartphone. This can be done through the RTA app or supported e-scooter operator platforms. Once linked, riders can tap their Nol card on the e-scooter terminal to unlock and start their ride.
The payments are automatically deducted from the Nol card balance, making it a trouble-free experience. The cards can be recharged online or through metro stations, bus stops, and retail shops in Dubai. The system encourages cashless payment and pushes the public transport usage.
Dubai is pushing its smart mobility vision forward with Nol-enabled e-scooter rentals. The project is in line with the city’s vision of increasing sustainable transport modes while giving residents and tourists an easy means of navigating urban spaces.
