India-Pakistan Relations Ground Srinagar Hajj Flights Through May 14

Following the rise in tensions between India and Pakistan, all Hajj flights from Srinagar have been grounded until May 14. The decision was issued by flight authorities due to safety and logistical reasons amid the prevailing conflict.

Dozens of Kashmiri pilgrims who were to embark on the annual pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia have found themselves stranded. All pilgrims affected have been told by officials to exercise patience and wait for further guidance from Hajj Committee as well as airlines operating the flights.

This interference occurs as the two countries engage in military exchanges along the border, necessitating heightened security measures and flight restricted airspace operations in north India. The authorities are implementing measures to ensure tight vigilance and resuming flights as soon as calm returns in the region.

Religious leaders and community organizers are urging pilgrims to remain calm and understanding at this critical juncture. Alternative travel arrangements are being explored, but officials emphasize that restarting the original schedule is greatly dependent on diplomatic and security developments.
