Indian actor Allu Arjun, known for his lead role in the blockbuster Pushpa 2, has been arrested and placed in 14-day custody, as per reports from Indian media. The arrest followed a tragic incident during the film’s premiere in Hyderabad, where a stampede claimed the life of a 39-year-old woman and left her son critically injured.
The incident occurred on Friday, December 13, when fans rushed into Sandhya Theatre to catch a glimpse of the actor. Authorities revealed that the theatre’s management, Allu Arjun, and his security team failed to inform them about his visit, which led to chaos. The police have filed a case against all involved parties.
Arrests Made in Connection With the Incident
Three individuals, including one of the theatre owners, have been arrested in connection with the stampede. The accused include M Sandeep (37), co-owner of Sandhya Theatre; M Nagaraju (51), a senior manager; and Gandhakam Vijay Chander (53), lower balcony in-charge. According to police, they have been charged and presented before the court. All three have been remanded to judicial custody.
The police also registered a case at the Chikkadpally police station under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), among other relevant charges.
The Victims
The tragic incident claimed the life of Revathi, a 35-year-old woman, who was rushed to the Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Her son, Shreethej, remains in critical condition and is receiving medical treatment.

Following the incident, the producers of Pushpa 2: The Rule issued a heartfelt statement. Mythri Movie Makers shared on X, “We are extremely heartbroken by the tragic incident during last night’s screening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the young child undergoing medical treatment. We are committed to standing by them and extending all possible support during this difficult time.”
