The MEA reports that so far, 96 Indians who had enlisted in various capacities with the Russian military have been discharged. However, the whereabouts of 16 individuals are unknown, and attempts are being made to trace them.

2. Government’s Efforts
The Indian government is said to be in close contact with the Russian officials trying to trace the missing nationals. Diplomatic channels are activated to speed up information sharing and the return of the nationals in safety.

3. Growing Concerns
It has raised more alarm among the families and community members back home. Advocates have been requesting the government to focus on safe returns and periodic updates on how things are coming along in searching for them.

4. A Complicated Issue

The involvement of Indian nationals in the Russian military reflects the multidimensional nature of the global web. As the story progresses, it highlights the travails of governments to protect citizens in dangerous international areas.

The MEA reported that the best possible measures would be taken to ensure the safe return of the missing.
