This decision comes after Chennai airport operations were suspended from 12:30 PM to 7:00 PM today due to Cyclone Fengal. The India Meteorological Department has predicted strong crosswinds, making it unsafe for flights to operate.

Refunds and Rebooking for Passengers

For passengers affected by cancellations, Indigo is offering options to claim a refund or rebook their flights through the airline’s website. The airline assured that its crew and airport teams are fully prepared to assist passengers with all possible support during this challenging time.

Cyclone Fengal: Severe Weather Impact

The India Meteorological Department has forecast that Cyclone Fengal will make landfall in Tamil Nadu this afternoon. The storm is expected to bring sustained winds of 70–80 km/h, posing significant risks to coastal areas.

Precautionary Measures in Tamil Nadu

In preparation for the cyclone, schools and colleges in multiple districts across Tamil Nadu have been closed. Authorities have relocated at least 471 residents to relief camps to ensure their safety. Fishing crews have been advised to avoid the waters due to surging waves of up to one meter, which could lead to flooding in low-lying coastal regions.

Cyclone’s Earlier Impact in Sri Lanka

Earlier this week, Cyclone Fengal passed along Sri Lanka’s coast, leaving devastation in its wake. At least 12 people, including six children, lost their lives due to the storm’s severe impact.

Residents in Tamil Nadu are urged to stay indoors and follow local authorities’ safety guidelines as the cyclone approaches.
