IPL 2025: Royals Call for Action as MLA’s Match-Fixing Accusations Set Off Storm

The Rajasthan Royals have strongly refuted claims made by MLA Rajendra Bihani, who suggested there could be match-fixing after the team’s recent IPL 2025 loss. Calling the remarks “baseless and harmful,” the franchise has released an official statement calling on Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to take stern action against the legislator for his “reckless comments.

Bihani, an assembly constituency representative, made a public observation that “something was off” about the Royals’ play, which led to a social media storm. His unsubstantiated claims soon snowballed into a controversy, with fans and cricketing insiders alike strongly condemning him.

The Royals, who are fighting to remain in playoff contention, said the team upholds the highest standards of professionalism and transparency. “Casting shadows on the integrity of players and the game itself is not only unethical but unacceptable,” the statement read, urging Bihani to either produce evidence or publicly withdraw his allegations.

While that is the case, Rajasthan Cricket Association and BCCI have maintained silence but are said to be keeping close tabs on the developments. Legal authorities opine that Bihani may face defamation charges should he not support his claims. Under pressure, political and sporting circles wait with bated breath for the Chief Minister’s reaction.
