Kerala MBBS Student Found Dead in Hyderabad, Triggers Protests

A tragic accident has rocked the AIIMS community in Hyderabad after 3rd-year MBBS student Abhijeet, who was from Kerala, was discovered dead in a suspected case of suicide. The 21-year-old medical student had left his hostel on a two-wheeler on Wednesday morning but failed to return. Authorities verified that his body was found in a secluded location near the outskirts of the city late Thursday night.

The tragic news has been met with shock among other students and staff, many of whom remembered Abhijeet as a reserved and determined student. Investigations are currently underway, but initial reports indicate the likelihood of academic pressures or personal problems as possible causes. No suicide note was left behind at the scene, and police are waiting for the post-mortem report to confirm the cause.

Student groups and mental health activists are demanding immediate changes, citing the high level of pressure among medical students at India’s leading institutions. AIIMS Hyderabad is said to have begun internal counselling outreach and is assisting completely with the probe. The episode contributes to rising worries about the mental health crisis among young professionals and students nationwide.

As sympathy pours in from all over Telangana and Kerala, Abhijeet’s death is a stark reminder of the unseen pressures most students are under. Family members are leaving for Hyderabad, and a memorial service will likely take place at the institute. Officials urge stressed-out students to reach out to helplines and are increasing helpline awareness on campus.
