Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has formally announced that he will be departing the club at the conclusion of the 2025 season, ending a glittering chapter. The Belgian maestro, who signed from Wolfsburg in 2015, has been the hub around which City’s domination over the last decade has revolved, collecting 14 top-level honors including several Premier League titles and a historic Champions League.

Now 33, De Bruyne hinted at exploring new challenges, possibly in the MLS or Saudi Pro League, as he nears the twilight of his career. “I’ve given everything for this badge,” he said, in an emotional farewell statement. “The time feels right for something new.” His decision is set to leave a massive void in City’s midfield, as fans and pundits reflect on his legacy as one of the Premier League’s greatest playmakers.

The news has triggered a tide of tributes from around the footballing world, with former colleagues, managers, and foes alike praising his vision, consistency, and game-changing quality. De Bruyne’s exit will also set off huge transfer business, as City look to rebuild their midfield for the future.
