Kieran Culkin and Elle Fanning are the newest A-listers to board the star-studded cast of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, the highly awaited prequel to the worldwide blockbuster franchise. Culkin, a widely praised performer for his role in Succession, will play a young Caesar Flickerman, the handsome Games host originally portrayed by Stanley Tucci.

Elle Fanning appears as a young Effie Trinket, bringing fresh life to the role originally taken by Elizabeth Banks. The prequel is set 24 years prior to Katniss Everdeen’s arrival and delves into the 50th Hunger Games—a turning point in Panem’s history, infamous for its gruesome turns and psychological trauma.

Directed by franchise stalwart Francis Lawrence, the prequel co-stars Joseph Zada as young Haymitch Abernathy, along with other prominent names such as Maya Hawke, Jesse Plemons, and Ralph Fiennes. The plot is based on Suzanne Collins’ forthcoming novel, further developing the richly detailed lore of the Hunger Games.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set to be released theatrically worldwide on November 20, 2026. With its strong cast and emotionally gripping storyline, the movie has the potential to deliver both nostalgia and fresh thrills for global fans.
