Kuwait detained over 400 illegal residents during a three-day national sweep to stem residency and labor law abuses. The sweep was part of an expanded security drive to impose compliance with the law in the country.
The Ministry of Interior reported that the arrested individuals were discovered to be in contravention of different residency and employment laws, such as expired visas, unauthorized working, and unregistered residence. Surprise raids took place in various regions known to harbor violators.
Authorities made it clear that such efforts will be sustained as part of Kuwait’s overall drive to boost national security and maintain legal residency standards. The government has also cautioned that those hiding or employing illegal workers may be legally penalized.
The campaign gives a loud message to violators and employers: compliance with residency laws is not negotiable, and routine enforcement operations will be an ongoing priority.
