The Government of Kuwait will impose a cash ban on charity donations this Ramadan season to give all donations using electronic payment systems, which the officials said is going to make donation transactions clearer and unmanipulable concerning misplacing funds, providing stronger control and regulation over voluntary organizations.
The Ministry of Social Affairs has directed all registered charities to comply strictly with the new digital payment mandate so that all donations are traceable and secure. Officials warn that penalties will be imposed on violators, as this is a strong statement on Kuwait’s stance to ensure accountability in financial fundraising activities.
This policy is set to revamp donation processes while eradicating fraud and other illegal financial practices associated with cash-based fundraising.
