Advocates and workers say that casualties among food delivery riders are mounting in the city of Dubai, as the pandemic accelerates a boom in customer demand. “Of course they're getting injured. In a gruesome case in Kuwait, an expat food delivery worker was stabbed by a customer over a disputed meal. The victim, an Asian national, was said to have been attacked by the individual upon delivering the food, with the attacker fleeing the restaurant with the meal.

Based on early reports, the scuffle took place after the customer is said to have been upset over the meal and attacked the delivery man in retaliation. The man was seriously injured and was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. The authorities have initiated a manhunt to find the suspect, who reportedly fled the scene with the package of food.

The attack has also caused outrage among expat communities in Kuwait, and there are concerns about the treatment and safety of delivery workers, who usually endure difficult conditions during their work. Kuwaiti law enforcement is making every effort to provide justice for the victim and put the attacker on trial.

This attack highlights the need for more protection for service workers, including those in delivery, who often face threats of violence from aggrieved customers. The authorities are yet to put out more details on the inquiry.
