Kuwait Shivers Through Harshest Temperatures in 60 Years During Siberian Cold Wave

Kuwait recently witnessed its lowest temperature in six decades, with the temperature dipping to -1°C in areas like Mutriba and Salmi. The Siberian high-pressure system, which is characterized by cold air masses, has spread faster and stronger than normal, heavily influencing the Middle East.

The Kuwait Meteorological Center indicated that the nation was hit by cold winds from the northwest under high pressure, with a speed of 60 km/h. The conditions resulted in low visibility as a result of dust storms, which cleared by evening. The lowest temperatures were experienced at below three degrees Celsius in open and agricultural regions.

The abnormal growth of the Siberian high-pressure system has created one of the world’s coldest regions, with temperatures in Siberia plummeting to -62°C.  This record cold has reached further than expected, triggering large drops in temperature in areas that are not used to this type of weather.

Residents of the affected areas are requested to take precautions, such as wearing proper clothing and maintaining proper heating in houses. The authorities are keeping a close eye on the situation and making announcements as and when necessary to maintain public safety during this record cold wave.
