Manchester City Held by Everton: Haaland Misses Penalty, City Climbs to Sixth

Manchester City faced another setback as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton at the Etihad Stadium. Erling Haaland had a chance to secure a win but missed a crucial penalty in the second half, with Everton’s goalkeeper Jordan Pickford making a key save. Although Haaland attempted to score from the rebound, the goal was disallowed for offside. Bernardo Silva had initially put City ahead with a deflected shot, but Iliman Ndiaye equalized for Everton in the 36th minute.

This draw leaves City in sixth place, now five points behind the top four. The result adds to City’s disappointing streak, having managed just one win in their last 13 matches across all competitions. Manager Pep Guardiola acknowledged that his team risks missing out on Champions League qualification for the first time in 15 years.
