Armed Group Hijacks Train, Injures Driver in Isolated Mountainous Area. A passenger train with 450 passengers was hijacked by militants in Balochistan, Pakistan, throwing the region into a serious security crisis. The armed group hijacked the train in an isolated mountainous region, injuring the driver and effectively taking passengers hostage.

Local authorities have sent security forces to the site, trying to negotiate with the attackers and secure the safety of passengers. The motive of the militants is unknown, but the attack has triggered widespread alarm at security in the unstable province.

Balochistan has also traditionally been a hotbed of militant and insurgency activity with separatist organizations and militant groups often attacking infrastructure and security forces. This latest incident of violence serves to highlight the continuing security issues in the area.

Pakistan’s military and law enforcement agencies are presently conducting rescue missions, with authorities assuring to put the situation under control as quickly as possible. The destiny of the passengers is not clear as efforts are being made for their safe release.
