Muhidin Abubaker has become the first Somalian champion in the history of UAE Warriors, one of the region’s best mixed martial arts promotions. Abubaker won the interim bantamweight championship with a clear victory over Brazil’s Victor Nunes in an exciting contest that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

The bout, which took place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, highlighted Abubaker’s tactical genius, speed, and unwavering commitment. From the opening bell, the Somali fighter maintained pressure and composure, neutralizing Nunes’s offense with calculated counters and well-timed takedowns.

By the final round, it was clear Abubaker was in control. The judges gave him a unanimous decision triumph, confirming his place in the history books of UAE Warriors and Somali sports.

🗣️ “This victory is for Somalia,” said an emotional Abubaker after the fight.
“To represent my country and make history on this stage means everything.”

His win has drawn widespread praise from across the MMA community and has inspired a new wave of young fighters from East Africa.

What’s Next for Abubaker?
With the interim title now around his waist, Abubaker is expected to face the current bantamweight champion later this year in a title unification match. Fans and analysts alike are eagerly awaiting the showdown, with many tipping Abubaker as the future face of the division.
