Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Sunday that he had authorized a September attack on Hezbollah, which led to the explosion of hundreds of communication devices across Lebanon. This was Netanyahu’s first public acknowledgment of the operation.
“Netanyahu confirmed Sunday that he approved the pager operation in Lebanon,” said his spokesman, Omer Dostri, in a statement to AFP. The attacks resulted in nearly 40 deaths and nearly 3,000 injuries, happening just before Israel launched its ongoing military operation in Lebanon.
