In celebration of Oman’s 54th National Day, the Omani government has announced that November 20-21 will be official public holidays. This decision, made by the Ministry of Labour under the Royal orders of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, applies to employees throughout Oman’s State Administrative Apparatus, public sector organizations, private companies, and other legal entities.
The Ministry has also allowed for flexibility for essential services and businesses that may need to operate during the holiday. Employers in these sectors can continue their services, provided that employees who work during this time are compensated fairly according to national labor laws.
Celebrating Oman’s Heritage and Progress
This two-day holiday gives Omani citizens and residents a chance to engage in National Day celebrations, honoring the nation’s heritage and achievements. The 54th National Day is a significant occasion, reflecting on Oman’s history and its ongoing path of growth and modernization under Sultan Haitham’s guidance.
Flexibility for Critical Operations
For sectors that require continuous service, such as healthcare, transportation, and essential public services, the Ministry’s directive ensures that employees working during the holiday will receive extra compensation or alternative leave options. This flexibility highlights Oman’s dedication to both public celebration and the efficient operation of essential services.
The two-day celebration is anticipated to feature events throughout the Sultanate, with Omani flags and decorations brightening public spaces, fostering a sense of unity and pride within communities.
