Sharjah Police have strongly advised people not to leave items like phones, laptops, bags, or wallets in cars parked for even a brief while. The advisory comes in the wake of escalating reports of car break-ins where small moments of negligence cost them big.
Officials stressed that most thefts take a matter of seconds and usually occur at cars parked in malls, residential areas, and office complexes. Visible items left inside are an easy target for thieves, who also operate quietly and quickly. “Criminals are constantly on the lookout for soft targets,” a Sharjah Police spokesperson said. “A visible object on your seat may be all the encouragement they need.
In an effort to counter the trend, Sharjah Police have increased patrols in high-risk zones and rolled out an awareness campaign through social media and public areas. Drivers are being reminded to lock their vehicles at all times, utilize alarm systems, and keep personal items hidden or bring them with them when exiting the car.
The authorities are also requesting the public to report any suspicious activities around parked cars through a call to the Sharjah Police emergency number or by using the smart police app. The warning is straightforward but stern: a few seconds of vigilance can protect you from falling prey to theft.
