The nominations for the 2025 Oscars have been announced, and Jacques Audiard’s crime musical Emilia Pérez leads the pack with an impressive 13 nominations, including Best Picture. This makes Emilia Pérez the most-nominated film of the year, just one short of tying the record set by films like Titanic and La La Land.
Emilia Pérez, a movie about a Mexican drug lord, also received nominations for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. Karla Sofía Gascón becomes the first openly transgender actress to be nominated for Best Actress. Other top contenders include The Brutalist and Wicked, both with 10 nominations.
The 97th Academy Awards will occur on March 2, 2025. It will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and will be presented by Conan O’Brien. Live broadcasts on ABC and streaming via Hulu will happen.
