The Pakistan train hijacking in Balochistan left the passengers traumatized, as armed militants took over the locomotive, taking hundreds of people hostage. Survivors describe moments of fear and uncertainty, stuck in a situation that felt unreal and terrifying.

When they eventually let us go, they told us not to look back,” said one passenger, explaining the intimidation tactics employed by the militants. Some on board, including children and families, spent hours in terror, not knowing their future as the attackers injured the train driver and issued demands.”.

Security personnel later intervened, and there was a tense standoff before a few of the hostages were released. But dozens are still being held, and attempts are being made to win their freedom. Authorities are probing the reasons for the hijacking, as the situation is still fluid.

This audacious attack underscores increasing security issues in the area, evoking concerns over railway security and militant operations in Pakistan’s troubled provinces. Survivors, although thankful to be alive, recall the ordeal as something they will never forget.
