Petra Kvitová, the Czech champion, will retire following the 2025 US Open

After one more Wimbledon participation, 35-year-old Petra Kvitová, a two-time Wimbledon champion, has declared that her remarkable tennis career would come to a conclusion in the 2025 season. The US Open will be her final competition.

Highlights of My Career
31 WTA singles championships, including 2011 and 2014 Wimbledon. She obtained a global No. 2 ranking in October 2011, which was a career high. Shee won the 2011 WTA Finals and advanced to the 2019 Australian Open final. She was also an olympic bronze medallist in Rio in 2016. She is renowned for her incredible recovery following a knife attack in 2016.

A Moving Last Chapter
In July 2024, as.com +15, Kvitová gave birth to her son, Petr, after taking a 15-month maternity leave.
Early in 2025, she rejoined the tour, enjoying competition without feeling obligated to perform.

Despite a slow start—winning only one of her first seven matches—she remained steadfast, describing her return as “already a big deal”.

Kvitová’s words
Before Wimbledon, she said, “Tennis has given me everything I have today… I will continue to be forever grateful to this beautiful sport that I love.”

She underlined how thrilled she is to “soak in the beauty” of Wimbledon once more before wrapping off her career at the US Open.

Last Games and Legacy
Wimbledon 2025: In homage to her legendary tenure at the All England Club, she will compete with a protected wildcard. Later this summer, the US Open 2025 is anticipated to be her final competition.

For almost twenty years, Kvitová has been one of the most enduring and adored personalities in women’s tennis. Millions have been inspired by her strong left-handed play, memorable Grand Slam victories, and inner strength both on and off the court.
