Philippines Launches 90-Day Campaign for Senate, Party-List Seats

The official campaign period for the Philippines’ elections has started, kicking off a 90-day race among 66 senatorial and 156 party-list candidates. While political rallies, debates, and advertisements are expected to get hotter in the next few months, voters are being encouraged to stay tuned on the candidate and the platform.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminded the candidates to strictly follow the election guidelines, which include limits on campaign spending and regulations on advertisements. Authorities also intensified efforts against misinformation and vote-buying in order to have a clean electoral process.

As the election approaches, several key issues, including recovery of the economy, healthcare, education, and national security, would be the main talking points. Based on various predictions by political analysts, there would be closely contested elections between experienced lawmakers and newcomers vying for spots in the Senate and House of Representatives.

Filipino voters are urged to participate in the democratic process by scrutinizing candidates on their policies and track records. The elections, which will take place later this year, will significantly influence the legislative landscape of the country for the next few years.
