Pope Francis is experiencing a slight improvement in his health following a recent battle with severe double pneumonia. The 88-year-old pontiff, who spent 38 days in Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, is now recuperating at the Vatican’s Casa Santa Marta. According to the Holy See Press Office, his respiratory condition, mobility, and voice have all shown modest improvements.
In defiance of medical guidance that suggested two months of rest, Pope Francis continues to remain active in his work. He has been operating from his desk and celebrating Mass in private. Interestingly, he has pushed ahead with the processes of canonizing saints from Venezuela and Papua New Guinea.
In the future, the Vatican intimates that Pope Francis’ Angelus this coming weekend might be different from his previous Sundays. Although details remain to be decided, there’s a chance the Pope will go public to offer the Angelus prayer. His last public blessing was from the hospital suite on March 23.
