Prince Harry has indicated he desires reconciliation with the British royal family but is not able to go back to the UK with his wife and children because of security reasons. In an interview with the BBC, the Duke of Sussex showed distress at a court decision that refused to restore full police protection for him, stating, “It’s impossible for me to take my family back to the UK safely.”
In an emotional video interview that was clearly raw, Harry admitted that his father, King Charles III, has shut him out, in part because of the backlash from his memoir and his ongoing lawsuit. “Some of my family will never forgive me,” he said, “but I would love reconciliation.”
Harry, 40, also urged UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to step in on the security issue, saying he was disappointed that the court dismissed serious threats against him. He labeled the ruling a “good old-fashioned establishment stitch-up” and accused royal institutions of exerting influence on the ruling.
Despite the split, Harry stated he does miss the UK and is sad that his children, Archie and Lilibet, will never get to see his native country. The prince, who currently lives in California with Meghan Markle, has promised not to pursue the case to the Supreme Court, going on to say, “Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”
