Qatar Airways is significantly boosting its operations in South Africa. It is announcing up to 35 weekly flights during the peak summer season as it approaches its 20th anniversary in the country.
This expansion highlights the airline’s dedication to the African market. It first introduced routes to Cape Town and Johannesburg in 2005.
The summer season in the southern hemisphere begins at the end of October. Qatar Airways will kick off with 11 flights per week to Cape Town, which will rise to 12 weekly flights from December 17 to January 13 to accommodate the holiday rush.
Johannesburg will also see a notable increase, with 18 flights per week starting from October 27 for the season. Furthermore, the airline will offer five weekly flights to Durban, accessible through Mozambique, enhancing connectivity to this key economic center.
This expansion aligns with Qatar Airways’ broader strategy to solidify its presence in Africa. It has a recent acquisition of a 25% stake in Airlink which is South Africa’s premium independent airline.
This investment strengthens Qatar Airways’ operational reach. It also improves service options for travelers to and within South Africa.
The airline’s extensive summer flight schedule shows its commitment to delivering outstanding service. Qatar Airways has also recently expanded its African operations.
Qatar Airways has launched new routes to Kinshasa and increased flights to Angola from one to four times per week. With a global network spanning over 170 destinations, it remains dedicated to connecting the world.
