Rain and frost are expected in the UAE as temperatures drop this weekend

The UAE is bracing for a notable shift in weather this weekend, with rain and frost expected across several regions. The country’s Met Office has issued a yellow rain alert for parts of Abu Dhabi, cautioning residents about the likelihood of heavy downpours. This weather front is anticipated to bring cooler temperatures, resulting in widespread frost in lower-lying areas, which may impact local agriculture and daily routines.

Rainfall is expected to become more intense in certain locations, particularly in Abu Dhabi and its surroundings. As temperatures drop, the chances of icy conditions will rise, especially during the early mornings and late evenings. The yellow alert is a precautionary measure, advising residents to be careful while traveling, as slippery roads and reduced visibility from rain are anticipated. Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution and limit travel during heavy rainfall.

In addition to rain, the temperature drop may lead to frost, particularly in mountainous and desert regions. The central and eastern parts of the UAE are predicted to experience the coldest temperatures, making it crucial for residents to stay warm and protect their plants and crops from frost damage. This sudden change in weather could also affect outdoor events, prompting organizers to make necessary safety adjustments.

The Met Office advises the public to stay informed about the latest weather updates and prepare for possible disruptions due to the cold and wet conditions. As the weekend nears, residents should take appropriate steps to ensure their safety during the chilly weather and rainy spells.
