In the United Arab Emirates, the moonsighting committee verified the sighting of the Ramadan crescent, declaring that the holy month would start on Saturday, March 1. The same declarations were issued in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Egypt, where religious authorities verified the start of fasting. In Pakistan and India, moonsighting committees will issue their declarations after regional observations.
At the same time, nations like Turkey and Malaysia, utilizing astronomical calculations, had already publicly declared the commencement date of Ramadan. In the United States and the United Kingdom, Muslim organizations used authentic global sightings to determine the initiation of fasting within their respective groups.
