The sacred month of fasting is approaching near. The excitement of Muslims is growing in the UAE. The Emirates Astronomy Society has predicted that Ramadan will likely begin on March 1, 2025. This will be officially confirmed with the sighting of the moon closer to that date.

The sight of a crescent moon marks the beginning of Ramadan each year in the Islamic lunar calendar. This year, the new crescent moon indicates Jumada Al Awwal. It is an important month for determining Ramadan’s timing. This crescent is expected to be visible on November 3, 2024. This moon-sighting tradition ensures that communities across the region can start fasting together.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan is the chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society. He noted that astronomical calculations can help predict the start of Ramadan. The official beginning is confirmed through the traditional sighting of the crescent moon. This practice connects ancient customs with modern astronomy. It helps in uniting families and communities in the holy month of Ramadan.

The timing of Ramadan significantly impacts daily life in the UAE. It leads to changes in working hours. Ramadan brings more family gatherings and preparations for Iftar at sunset. Each year, the holy month brings a spirit of reflection, charity, and unity to the communities in the UAE.

As the date draws near, residents are encouraged to stay updated through official announcements. Residents are advised to follow the UAE’s moon-sighting committee. The committee will make the final announcement based on the traditional sighting. This annual ritual is a cherished part of life in the UAE. It will promote a sense of shared celebration and devotion.
