Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary in Dubai Will Get a Dh650 Million Makeover

By the end of 2026, the first stage of the massive eco-development project will be finished. With a Dh650 million renovation project, Dubai has announced a significant overhaul of the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary with the goal of improving biodiversity, visitor experience, and ecotourism. The project embodies the emirate’s goal of striking a balance between environmental sustainability and urban growth.

The initial phase, expected to be completed by late 2026, includes the development of elevated boardwalks, immersive nature trails, eco-lodges, educational centers, and bird-watching platforms. While maintaining the sanctuary’s position as an essential resting place for thousands of migratory birds, including the famous flamingos, the renovation is intended to draw in both nature enthusiasts and scientists.

The initiative will enhance habitat conservation, increase climate resilience, and fortify the sanctuary’s function as a centre for environmental education, according to Dubai Municipality. Ras Al Khor is one of the few protected urban wetlands in the world, and this facelift is set to further cement its place as a model for urban ecological preservation in the region.
