In round two, he carded a two-over-par 72 at TPC Sawgrass – Dye’s Valley course, following an even-par 70 in the first round at Sawgrass Country Club. His steady play puts him among the top 67 players, all within seven strokes of the co-leaders. So far, only eight players have managed to stay under par.

A Test of Determination

“It was a solid day today – I hit the ball better than I did in round one,” Rayhan shared with Khaleej Times. “The wind made it really challenging for everyone out there.

“I’m happy I stayed focused and moved up the leaderboard with my two-over score. Finishing with a birdie on my last hole a 20-foot putt gave me great momentum heading into the weekend.”

Looking ahead, Thomas knows the coming rounds will be even tougher, with stronger winds and rain in the forecast. “I’ve packed my waterproofs, umbrella, and plenty of towels for the grips,” he said. “Staying prepared and adaptable is key. It’s going to be a demanding weekend, but I thrive in these conditions. I’m excited for what’s ahead.”

Round Two Highlights

Starting on the first tee, Rayhan made an early birdie on the par-4 first hole. He navigated the front nine with bogeys on the 4th and 8th but recovered with a birdie on the 9th, finishing even at the turn.

The back nine brought tougher conditions. Gusty winds led to bogeys on the 13th, 16th, and 17th holes. However, Thomas ended strong, sinking a fantastic birdie putt on the 18th to finish with a hard-earned 72.

Players described the conditions as punishing, with unpredictable winds that shifted frequently. Despite these challenges, Rayhan remains determined to tackle the weekend head-on, keeping his PGA Tour dream alive.

Chasing the PGA Dream

At just 25 years old, Rayhan has plenty of experience in high-stakes competition. A former member of Dubai Creek Resort and a graduate of the CH3 Performance Academy at The Els Club Dubai, he’s been coached by renowned instructor Justin Parsons, now based in Georgia.

The stakes are clear as Rayhan enters the weekend:

  • Top 5 players and ties: Secure their 2025 PGA Tour Cards.
  • Next 40 players and ties: Earn Korn Ferry Tour Membership.
  • Remaining players: Gain Conditional Status for the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Americas.

With preparation and focus as his strengths, Rayhan is ready to embrace the challenges ahead and take a step closer to his PGA Tour dreams.

Course Details:

  • Dye’s Valley Course: Par 70, 6,850 yards
  • Sawgrass Country Club: Par 70, 7,054 yards
