Ruud van Nistelrooy has said an emotional goodbye to Manchester United, sharing his gratitude and cherished memories after his brief time as interim head coach. In a heartfelt message posted on Friday, the former Dutch striker reflected on his experience at the club and promised to “treasure the memories” of his time at Old Trafford.

Van Nistelrooy, who had been working as an assistant coach at United since July, took over as the club’s interim manager after Erik ten Hag was dismissed in late October. During his short stint, the 48-year-old guided the team to an impressive three wins and a draw, including a commanding 3-0 victory over Leicester in the Premier League, which marked his final match in charge.

The former PSV Eindhoven manager had been brought on board with a two-year contract to assist at United, but he expressed a desire to remain at the club under new manager Ruben Amorim. Despite his success in the interim role, Van Nistelrooy confirmed his exit, taking a moment to thank both the club and the fans for their support throughout his time there.

Reflecting on his experience in Manchester, Van Nistelrooy wrote, “It has been an honor to represent this incredible club, and the memories of these few weeks will stay with me forever. I will cherish every moment, every win, and the amazing atmosphere of Old Trafford.”

The Dutchman’s departure signifies the end of a chapter for Manchester United, who are now looking forward to the new leadership of Amorim. Fans and players alike will remember Van Nistelrooy for his guidance during a challenging time, and his heartfelt farewell has made a lasting impact on the club’s supporters.

As Van Nistelrooy moves on from Manchester United, the club and its fans will surely hold onto the legacy of his contributions, both as a player and a coach.
