Saudi Arabia will face peak rainfall in April, according to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), with a warning of heavy downpours in several regions. Asir, Al Baha, and Mecca are the hardest hit, where heavy showers and thunderstorms are forecast to control the month’s weather conditions.
The meteorologists forecast that the heavy rain may cause localized flooding, especially in mountainous and low-lying areas. The authorities have advised residents to keep themselves informed about weather warnings and use caution while traveling, especially in rain-sensitive areas.
The elevated rainfall is included as part of the climatic change, and April in the past has recorded substantial rainfall in western and southwestern Saudi Arabia. Meteorologists indicate that the climate change may also deliver lower temperatures and blustery winds in the affected areas.
Authorities have promised citizens that emergency teams are ready to counter the effect of the rains. Pilgrims and travelers going to Mecca are advised to prepare ahead and follow instructions on safety measures during this season of increased rains.
