In a big step towards empowering its domestic workforce, Saudi Arabia has announced the full list of 41 tourism-related jobs that will now be reserved for Saudi nationals. The Saudisation program is one part of the Kingdom’s continued strategy to localize its labor market and increase employment opportunities for citizens within private sector establishments.
The Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development jointly stated that the new regulations would be implemented in phases from mid-2025. The positions range from the critical roles of travel consultants, tour guides, front desk receptionists, hotel receptionists, reservation clerks, and event planners in the hospitality and tourism industry.
Private firms have been accorded sufficient time by authorities to adapt with the provision of a comprehensive implementation schedule and assistance packages. These consist of training schemes, wage supplements, and recruitment incentives to facilitate a seamless transition for both employers and job seekers.
The step is in line with Saudi Vision 2030 and is focused on diversification of the economy and less reliance on foreign labor. As tourism is booming at a fast pace, localisation will also provide a chance to create thousands of new jobs for Saudi youth across the country.
