Fifteen workers, including nine Indians, have been killed in a devastating road accident in Saudi Arabia’s Jizan province. The bus carrying 26 workers to a job site collided with a trailer, killing many and leaving several seriously injured.

The government has initiated an investigation into the accident, but preliminary reports say that it is due to low visibility and careless driving. Ambulances are already at the scene, treating the wounded. Those who are seriously injured are being rushed to nearby hospitals.

The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia is coordinating with the local officials to offer support to the affected families and assist the repatriation of the deceased. The whole incident raises more concern regarding road safety measures, especially in the labor transport sector in that region.

This tragic accident is a reminder to improve traffic regulation and better security measures for the workers traveling to workstations. Families of the victims are now awaiting updates on further legal and repatriation proceedings.
