Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has launched a more straightforward process for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) residents to obtain Umrah visas, making it easier for them to visit the Holy Mosque in Mecca and perform Umrah. This initiative underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enhancing access for pilgrims from neighboring Gulf nations and encouraging deeper spiritual connections with the region’s sacred sites.

Simplified Visa Options for Umrah
GCC residents now have several options for obtaining Umrah visas under the new policy. The Ministry has stated that applicants can apply through Saudi Arabia’s official Umrah platforms or at designated travel agencies in GCC countries, with quicker processing times for added convenience. These visas are specifically designed for those intending to perform Umrah and visit the Grand Mosque in Mecca, ensuring smooth access for millions of worshippers each year.

Permit Requirement for Medina’s Prophet’s Mosque
Furthermore, the Ministry emphasized that while visiting the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina is possible, it requires a special permit. Pilgrims and visitors must obtain this permit to manage the flow of worshippers effectively, in line with the Kingdom’s dedication to providing a respectful and organized spiritual experience.

Enhancing Accessibility for Pilgrims
The newly clarified visa options are part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to promote tourism and facilitate religious travel in the region. As more GCC residents are encouraged to perform Umrah, the simplified application process is expected to improve their experience and minimize administrative challenges.

With these new measures, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah aims to welcome an increasing number of visitors from GCC countries, making it easier for those looking to fulfill their religious duties in Mecca and Medina.
