As Ramadan 2025 draws near, Saudi officials have launched a new campaign for water conservation among pilgrims undertaking Umrah and Itikaf at the holy places. As millions are to perform Umrah and Itikaf, the campaign is geared towards sensitizing people on prudent use of water during the blessed month.
Authorities will use digital displays at mosques and other prime public places, together with direct social media appeals, to remind pilgrims to conserve water. The campaign emphasizes the need to save resources according to Islamic principles of moderation and sustainability.
Officials pointed out that although Saudi Arabia has invested heavily in water infrastructure, shared responsibility is important during peak pilgrimage seasons. By maintaining simple habits like conserving avoidable wastage during ablution, pilgrims can aid the country’s cause in terms of the environment.
The initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s overall environmental and sustainability vision that involves endeavors to minimize water use as well as encourage eco-friendly endeavors at major religious events.
