Karachi experienced another jolt on Tuesday as a 3.6 magnitude earthquake struck the Quaidabad area, marking the second tremor in recent days. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake occurred at a shallow depth, sending tremors across parts of the city but causing no reported casualties or damage.
Residents in Quaidabad and nearby areas reported brief shaking of walls, windows, and household items, prompting many to rush outdoors. Although the tremor was minor, the recurrence has left locals on edge, especially in a city not typically known for frequent seismic activity.
Experts at the PMD are monitoring the situation closely and have urged citizens to remain calm but vigilant, advising basic earthquake safety practices such as avoiding elevators and standing under door frames or solid furniture during tremors. No aftershocks have been reported so far
Karachi, though situated outside Pakistan’s primary seismic zones, can occasionally feel shocks due to tectonic movements along nearby fault lines. Authorities have not issued any formal alert but are continuing to assess structural stability in the affected region as a precaution.
