Shahbaz Sharif in Turkey for Important Meetings with President Erdogan

Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has traveled to Turkey on an important official visit to consolidate bilateral cooperation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The top-level talks are likely to include trade, defence, energy, and regional security, as both countries want to expand their age-old partnership.

A Historic Friendship
Sharif welcomed the “unique and time-tested bond” of Pakistan and Turkey upon his arrival, highlighting their common cultural heritage, respect for each other, and convergence of strategic interests. The visit is happening at a juncture when both nations want to increase cooperation in various areas.

Talks on Trade & Defence
The leaders are poised to ink new pacts on issues like military ties, energy exploration, and two-way trade. Greater defence cooperation and more Turkish investment in Pakistan’s infrastructure are expected to dominate the discussion.

Regional Focus
Regional security, such as the changing dynamics in Afghanistan and the Middle East, will also be discussed. Both of these leaders are expected to support the peaceful resolution of conflict and greater collaboration on humanitarian and development programs in the Islamic world.
