Government employees in Sharjah will have a five-day long weekend in celebration of the upcoming UAE National Day, as confirmed by local authorities.

Public sector workers will get paid holidays on Monday, December 2, and Tuesday, December 3. Regular work schedules will resume on Wednesday, December 4, according to the Sharjah Human Resources Department.

Since Sharjah observes a three-day weekend from Friday to Sunday, public sector employees will enjoy an extended break spanning five days.

The announcement follows the UAE Government’s declaration of National Day holidays for ministries and federal entities. Employees in the private sector will also receive holidays on the same dates, as per the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre).

This year marks the 53rd UAE National Day, known as Eid Al Etihad, which highlights the UAE’s unity and commemorates the formation of the Emirates on December 2, 1971. The name reflects the nation’s heritage, unity, and pride.

The official celebrations for Eid Al Etihad will take place in Al Ain, set against the backdrop of the region’s stunning natural landscapes. These events are usually attended by the UAE’s Rulers and leaders.
